Your Record Must Stand to Win
Records, and hence awards, are not finalized until the conclusion of CIRC2018 on February 24th, 2018. A competitor, for example, who breaks a valid record in January, may find it broken at a later recognized event and hence bumped out of the money pool. Such a competitor can register for any other recognized event up to and including CIRC2018 in an attempt to establish a new record.

Your Age Is Calculated on the Date of Competition.
Example: If you sign up for the Record Challenge as a remote competitor and your age at the time of your remote event is 64, you are in the 60-64 category for the Record Challenge even if you turn 65 by the time CIRC is run. This only applies to competitors who have a birthday between their remote event and the running of CIRC. Applicants in this situation who are competing both before and after their birthday can submit two Record Challenge entries (two fees apply) and compete in both the 60-64 category (for their event when 64) and the 65-69 category (for their event once they have reached 65 years of age). In this situation it is possible and allowable for a single competitor to break two records in the same calendar year.

USA/World Records are defined as those posted on this site that have met one of the following criteria:

  • Rankings posted on the Concept 2 site certified as ‘Race’ by February 24th 2018
  • 2018 results posted by the CRASH-B competition
  • Valid Race Organizer Certifications submitted to CIRC in accordance with qualification/submission

Record Challenge cash prizes are only available to competitors who are over 24 years old and not part of any collegiate team.
Records apply to 2k races only.
Only one Record Challenge award per winning competitor per age group.
Race judge must read the competitors Performance Monitor to certify records.
Prize money will be issued by check no later than May 25th, 2018.
Disputes must be registered and posted within 60 hours of CIRC2018 via registered mail and Email.
By signing the CIRC2018 Record Challenge Entry form, all competitors agree to accept and abide by the above rules and conditions.
